John took us to places we would never have found. The small bar concept means each place is unique and funky. The walk is easy and at a relaxed pace. We visited 19 bars with drinks at 3 and food at 2. The Barber shop Bar was a must see.I recommend anyone who wants to see where the locals go to meet and drink to join this tour.

John showed us a side of Sydney even the locals don't know. So many hidden bars (gems) with unique themes fro the Stitch bar decorated with antique Singer sewing machines, Uncle Ming's , a 1930's Chinese style den, the whiskey and gin bars with unique entrances, and all bought to light by our delightful guide, John with his numerous local stories. Easy 3 hour local walking that passed by in a flash.

We enjoyed seeing night life in Sydney. Drinks and food were good. the ways go to different bars were interesting. Linda is very enthusiastic and her explains about history and local stories were very clear and easy to listen. We liked her a lot.

Linda is an enthusiastic and pleasant guide who gave me an enjoyable tour of hidden Sydney bars. A tourist would not know that these places even existed. We went through a barbers shop and down random staircases to find beautifully decorated bars which were clearly popular with the locals. My favourite was a stunning whisky bar. Linda is really knowledgeable and it was enjoyable to listen to her Sydney stories from the past. During the evening we enjoyed drinks and snacks in many of the places that we visited. Thanks Linda!

What You Can Expect

On this small group Sydney Small Bar Walking Tour, you’ll discover the delights of Sydney after dark by visiting a selection of the city’s unique boutique bars. It takes a local ‘in the know’ to reveal these inner-city gems, and on this tour, you’ll enjoy the services of a local guide to show you around. In between visits to watering holes you’ll explore the heritage nooks and crannies of the CBD and learn some of the city’s rich history.

You’ll meet your friendly local guide and the rest of your tour group at Wynyard Station (check your tour confirmation document for details of the meeting point). From there you’ll head off to the first of three venues visited on this Sydney Small Bar Walking Tour. Each venue has been chosen for its unique offerings and atmosphere. The itinerary depends on the evening and your guide’s preferences. Some bars are tucked down alleyways or in basements, while others are set in unusual locations like old loading docks. Rest assured that they are all something special!

At each venue you’ll sample its signature food and drink offering, which could be anything from wood fired pizzas and sangria, to tapas and mulled wine. Extra drinks can be purchased along the way (at guest’s own expense). You’ll spend an unhurried 45 minutes at each bar — giving you the opportunity to fully enjoy the ambience.

In between stops you’ll stroll past important heritage sites and key city landmarks. Your guide will share interesting historical details along the way.

Get a genuine taste of everything that makes the Harbour City after dark so much fun. By the end of this Sydney Small Bar Walking Tour you’ll be an honorary local!
