The one-hour tour was awesome, guide Chris was informative, and we learned so much about the history and construction of the building. I'm very happy to have done this tour. The only downside was having to rush lunch to make the Opera House tour. We paid too much as expected at the Opera Kitchen. Overall, I highly recommend this tour. Please note that you don’t get a ride back to hotel. We took the train and it was easy.

This tour included a walking tour of the Rocks, visit to Bondi Beach, and a tour of the Opera House. Tony was our bus driver and did an excellent job! The highlight of the trip was a tour of the Rocks by Katherine. The history of the area is fascinating - you will not be disappointed. I could have listened to Katherine share the history of Sydney all day. Our group of 6 also purchased tickets to see Julius Caesar at the Opera House after going on the tour. We knew we had to experience the acoustics that were described to us in such great detail. You will not be disappointed by this tour.

What You Can Expect

This Sydney Morning City Tour with the Opera House combines a popular morning city coach tour with a guided visit to one of the most iconic buildings in the world — the Sydney Opera House. Throughout the experience, you’ll enjoy the services of a knowledgeable local guide. You’ll see many of the city’s key landmarks in air-conditioned comfort. A visit to beautiful Bondi Beach is included in your city tour, as is a short guided walking tour of The Rocks colonial heritage precinct. The grand finale is your one-hour guided walking tour of the World Heritage–listed Opera House. Your Opera House guide will share the history of the building — including the controversy that surrounded its construction. You’ll also get to see areas of the Opera House that are not accessible to the general public.

Once CBD hotel pick-ups are completed, your Sydney Morning City Tour with the Opera House will get underway. Your first stop is The Rocks precinct on the harbour’s edge. This is one of the oldest parts of Sydney, and dates back to the first settlement. Here, you’ll enjoy a short guided walking tour with a specialist guide. See amazing historical architecture and learn about the area’s storied past. You’ll wander along small cobbled laneways and through colonial-era passages. This is truly an opportunity to step back in time and immerse yourself in Old Sydney Town.

From there, you’ll return to your comfortable coach before heading off to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair — one of the best places in the city for views of the Opera House and the majestic Sydney Harbour Bridge. As you drive around the city, your guide will point out places of interest, including St Mary’s Cathedral, Parliament House, Sydney Tower, Town Hall, the Art Gallery of NSW, Chinatown, Darling Harbour and the beautiful Royal Botanic Garden.

You’ll also travel through the vibrant Kings Cross precinct — notorious in past decades for its shady characters and colourful nightlife, and trendy Paddington — where boutiques, bars and bustling cafes line both sides of Oxford Street. You’ll also take in some of the multi-million-dollar mansions of the Eastern Suburbs.

The next stop on this Sydney Morning City Tour with the Opera House is Bondi Beach — possibly one of the most famous patches of sand in the world. Home to the hit TV series Bondi Rescue, you’ll have around 30 minutes to take a stroll along the beach or head down to the water’s edge for a quick paddle.

Finally, you’ll head to the Opera House for your one-hour guided tour. The tour provides information on the construction and history of the building, as well as a glimpse of how the Opera House functions as a working theatre. You’ll learn about its design and construction — from the international design competition won by Danish architect Jorn Utzon, to the challenges of turning his vision into reality. Those challenges ultimately led to Utzon resigning from the project. In a sad twist, he never returned to Sydney to see his completed masterpiece — which opened in 1973.

This Sydney Morning City Tour with the Opera House gives visitors a taste of everything that makes the New South Wales capital so special — including culture, history, architecture and exquisite natural beauty. It’s the complete introduction to the Harbour City and its most famous building.
