‘We started our tour with the cruise along the Swan River to Fremantle with Captain Cook Cruises. There we were met by the Fremantle Tram, which took us on an informative tour of the city. The tram took us back to the jetty to meet our boat for our trip back to Perth. The second day we caught the double-decker bus for our tour of Perth. This was an excellent tour and it is something we probably should have done on our first day in Perth. It’s a great help in getting a bit of a grounding as to where everything is, and it takes you to Kings Park.’

We started our tour with the cruise along the Swan River to Fremantle with Captain Cook Cruises. There we were met by the Fremantle Tram, which took us on an informative tour of the city. The tram took us back to the jetty to meet our boat for our trip back to Perth - again along the Swan River. The highlight of the trip was a mother dolphin and her calf swimming alongside and doing sideway rolls in the wake of our boat. The Captain provided excellent commentary on both trips along the river. The second day we caught the double-decker bus for our tour of Perth. This was an excellent tour and it is something we probably should have done on our first day in Perth. It’s a great help in getting a bit of a grounding as to where everything is, and it takes you to Kings Park.

This is a fabulous way to get the most of out of your trip to Perth. If you are short on time and would like to view the top attractions then this is the way to do it! You can hop on at various locations and hop off at various attractions and spent as much time as you would like there. The buses run on a schedule and didn't miss a beat. It is fun and very inexpensive and you can upgrade your tour and include tours to Fremantle, Rottnest and Swan River. My only critique is that the buses need some loving care. The interior is a bit run down and seeing this is mostly a tourist attraction, I would say you want to showcase the best and not the worst.

We only had one day so we did the full 2 hour roundtrip on the bus and then went on the boat. The boat trip on the swan River was fab. We enjoyed a delicious burger in Fremantle, visited the maritime museum and then took the tram tour. Very interesting and fun commentary from James. Also everyone super friendly, especially lady at Captain cook cruises on Elizabeth quay, so helpful and welcoming. Brilliant day out, worth every dollar! Amazing scenery along the Swan.

We took the triple tour to take advantage of the variety of experiences with that ticket. The Swan river cruise was pleasant with informative but not excessive commentary. The hop on hop off facilities are really good and show off Perth to great advantage. The city really has developed more of a cosmopolitan character since our earliest visit. A great variety of food options are readily available.

What You Can Expect

This package is great value and includes three separate experiences — a Perth Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour (48-hour ticket), a return cruise on the Swan River from Perth to Fremantle with Captain Cook Cruises, and a Fremantle Hop On Hop Off Tram Tour. The package can be completed in a single day (9.15am to 5pm), or over two or three days. It’s up to you, depending on how much time you have available.

If you have one day…
  • Catch the first Perth hop on hop off bus from the Barrack Street Jetty at 9.15am and complete a full circuit of the city and Kings Park (stay on the bus for the whole time).
  • The bus will return to the Barrack Street Jetty in time for you to board your river cruise from Perth to Fremantle with Captain Cook Cruises.
  • On arrival in Fremantle, a tram will meet your cruise and take you on a tour of the port city. You’ll also have some free time to explore.
  • Take the 3.45pm cruise back to Perth, which arrives at the Barrack Street Jetty at 5pm.
If you have two or three days…
  • Enjoy your Perth hop on hop off bus tour ticket at your leisure. Your ticket is valid for 48 hours, so you can use it over one or two consecutive days (depending on how much time you have) and hop on and off at any of the 11 convenient stops around the city and Kings Park.
  • On the day you want to go to Fremantle, take the 9.30am cruise from the Barrack Street Jetty with Captain Cook Cruises. Check in for the cruise at least 15 minutes prior and present your confirmation at the ticket office. A Fremantle Tram will meet the cruise and take you on a tour of the port city. Hop on and off the tram as often as you like and enjoy some free time, before taking the 3.45pm cruise back to Perth. You’ll arrive at the Barrack Street Jetty at 5pm.

Note: If you are using your package over two or three days, the Perth and Fremantle sections can be alternated and do not need to be completed on consecutive days. You can even split them up and use them within a two-week period. However, your Perth hop on hop off bus ticket must be used on consecutive days. River cruises do not operate on Mondays and Wednesdays from May to August.
