Enter the wonderful world of native and exotic wildlife at Melbourne Zoo — Australia’s oldest zoological park. You’ll encounter a huge array of animals in a diverse range of habitats, including species from Africa, Asia and of course — Australia. There’s so much to see and do at the zoo. Explore at your own pace, stopping off at various exhibits that are home to more than 320 species of animals, including giraffes, zebras, monkeys, kangaroos, lemurs and so many more.
You can see the popular orangutans in their dedicated treetop exhibit, venture into the Australian Bush exhibit to meet native Aussie animals, stroll through the beautiful Butterfly House, walk the Trail of the Elephants, and observe penguins, seals and a host of other marine wildlife in the underwater exhibits.
Spend as much time as you like at each exhibit. When it’s time for a break, there are several restaurants on site where you can enjoy a snack or meal.
If you’re visiting Melbourne Zoo with children, they’ll love the chance to see what it takes to work with the animals in the Keeper Kids play space. There’s more fun to be had at Growing Wild.
For those interested in learning more about the animals on display, and the park’s conservation efforts, the half-hourly zookeeper presentations are a must see. They run daily from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Check the timetable in the entry pavilion.
Take the whole family and go talk to the animals on a day out at fabulous Melbourne Zoo.
