Really enjoyed the Sports tour. I went with a group of people from other trips, but it was very enjoyable. Our guide was very good and knowledgeable, about the horse racing track, the MCG and the Grand Prix circuit.

Myself and eight mates visited Melbourne recently for a footy match and incorporated a tour into our schedule. We had a great time. Our guide Anthony was full of knowledge about the city and stadiums and combined it nicely with humour to entertain us. We saw everything we wanted to plus more, had a great lunch, and all went away happy. This is great value for money, well organised and every contact with the company was friendly. I highly recommend this tour.

Picked up on time at designated point met by Anthony our guide for the tour. First stop Flemington Racecourse. Here we started at the 32 hundred meter mark for the Melbourne Cup - the biggest event in Australia's sporting calendar. Walked the saddling ring met and talked to gardeners doing the preparations for the big day and the majestic beauty of the racecourse. Next stop the MCG or as Anthony put it - Melbournians like to save on letters and simply call it the "G". Saw the magnificent Sporting Precinct. Walked on the hallowed turf, through the stands, change rooms, the long room, dining rooms, galleries and Bob Menzies famous "Urinal Window" all with the aid of our guide Jim, who's knowledge and enthusiasm was 1st class. This was followed with an adrenaline filled lap of the Grand Prix track at Albert Park with Anthony at the wheel. Tour finished with lunch at the Channel 7 Cafe at Etihad Stadium. Absolutely brilliant experience. We would do it all again in a heartbeat. One tour not to be missed in Melbourne.

  • What You Can Expect

Experience the Victorian capital’s magnificent sporting obsession on this Melbourne Sports Lovers Tour. You’ll visit the city’s most iconic sporting venues and enjoy behind the scenes access to the mighty MCG. This tour is a must-do for all sports enthusiasts!

On this tour you can opt for the convenience of CBD hotel pick-up or meet your ‘sports guru’ guide at Federation Square. Your first stop is Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne’s inner west. Home to the world-renowned Melbourne Cup — the ‘race that stops a nation’ — you’ll be able to see the grandstand, finish line/post and exclusive members’ pavilion.

Next you’ll enjoy a drive through the 2006 Commonwealth Games Athletes’ Village, and a quick (but not too quick!) lap around the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix street circuit in Albert Park. You’ll also pass by the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Then it’s time to head off to the iconic MCG, where you’ll be treated to a tour of restricted areas that most people don’t get to see. You’ll visit the player change rooms, players’ balcony, Bill Lawry Cricket Centre and the Long Room. You’ll even have the opportunity to take a walk on the hallowed turf, before exploring the fascinating Australian Sports Museum.

After an action-packed morning, you’ll enjoy a relaxed café-style lunch at Docklands Stadium.

Finally, you’ll head to Melbourne Park — the home of the Australian Open tennis tournament — for a guided tour of Rod Laver Arena and/or Margaret Court Arena (depending on availability). You’ll see the tournament control centre and the change rooms used by the world’s top players. You’ll visit the superboxes and VIP hospitality areas, and step onto centre court (subject to availability).

This Melbourne Sports Lovers Tour packs a lot in but the pace is easy and relaxed, and you won’t feel like you’re being rushed from one venue to the next. Enjoy a comprehensive introduction to the city’s top sporting venues and traditions.
