‘The vintage rail trip up to Kuranda and the ride back down on the Skyrail gondola offered us spectacular vistas of the rainforest, Barron River and Coral Sea. The village of Kuranda had great shopping and fun restaurants. Our bus driver from our hotel was the icing on the cake with his friendly personality and informative narration!’

We took the scenic railway to Kuranda village and the skyrail back down. The train ride was about 1 1/2 hours and went thru beautiful scenery. We upgraded our seats to the Gold Class which gave us a light snack and drinks and bigger seats. Once we were at the village, they have numerous shops and restaurants. While there, we went to the Koala Gardens and got to hold a koala. Koala Gardens is one of the few places where you can hold a koala and it was amazing!

Quiet, easy day in the country and small Village. Lots of food and small craft shops. Don't sit in first cars on the train! Engine fumes were nasty. Easy walking in area. Three hours to see tours of butterflies, birds, or Kuala bears (and native animals) after you arrive in Kuranda. Full day.
