Such a great way to spend a day outside of the city. We were visiting from the US and we loved this experience. The caves were amazing and very similar to our own Carlsbad caverns. The Blue Mountains area was beautiful and we took our guide’s advise and got a hot lunch at the Blue Mountain stop before departing for the caves. We even got to see some wallabies up close. Just be aware this is fairly long (but scenic) drive and the cave tour involves a lot of steps up and down. I’m glad we are in good shape. Not recommended for small children or elderly with walking difficulties.

Our driver/guide was friendly and informative. He provided a nice “tour” on our way to the events and played movies on the way back. Overall, the trip itself was fun. Scenic World was vastly more interesting than I thought it would be and I wish we’d had more time there. The caves were also beautiful and fun and I would definitely return for a more in-depth, vigorous trip. The day was fun but felt too rushed. It was a nice introduction to these places and worth the money. The bus was comfortable and had WiFi and usb charging and a good a/c.

The coach pick up was prompt and the journey to the Bue mountains was informative with the cheery driver telling stories, myths, legends and facts in true Aussie style! The views were beautiful and scenic railways worth a trip. The journey on to the Jenolan caves gave a good look at the extent of the Blue mountains and the caves themselves were well worth a look; the guide there also really knowledgeable and friendly. Very steep steps and lots of them;( Lucas cave), so fairly good fitness needed, but other caves not so demanding I understand. Driver was excellent and really added to the day's experience with his interaction knowledge and friendliness. Thank you.

The tour was really great and it was all due to the amazing service provided by The Big Bus. Right from the pickup at Central station to the drop back, it was all good and especially the itinerary was really set very appropriately to suit everyone's needs as well as was very budget-friendly. Also, was provided with a discount due to a price match policy I requested from another website. Thank you so much.

What You Can Expect

When it comes to seeing the best of the Blue Mountains, this Jenolan Caves and Blue Mountains Tour from Sydney is an amazing option. Not only will you enjoy the famous valley vistas that the mountains are absolutely renowned for, but you’ll also head underground to explore one of Australia’s most famous cave systems. It’s an action-packed day out!

Once CBD hotel pick-ups have been completed, you’ll travel by comfortable air-conditioned coach directly to the fabulous Blue Mountains. You’ll stop at Echo Point in the mountain township of Katoomba for a photo opportunity in front of the famous Three Sisters rock formation. From there, it’s a very short drive to Scenic World on the clifftop overlooking the spectacular Jamison Valley, where you’ll have the option to ride the Scenic Railway, Skyway and/or Cableway. Ride tickets can be purchased on the day.

The Scenic Skyway is a 720-metre trip from one side of a deep ravine to the other, travelling in a cable car suspended 270 metres above the forested terrain below! The 360-degree views are sensational.

The Scenic Cableway descends 545 metres into the Jamison Valley. The ride provides fabulous views of the Three Sisters, Orphan Rock and Katoomba Falls.

The Scenic Railway is the steepest passenger railway journey in the world. Once used to haul coal up from the mines on the valley floor (still visible), the Scenic Railway has been thrilling passengers of all ages for decades.

From there, the tour continues on to fascinating Jenolan Caves on the western slopes of the Blue Mountains. You’ll arrive just in time for your fully guided tour of the famous Lucas Cave with a cave expert. The largest chamber — The Cathedral — is renowned for having perfect acoustics, and is often used for concerts and other musical events. Think of it as the oldest performance venue in the world! The evocative lighting used throughout the cave really adds to the atmosphere, and this guided tour is an unforgettable experience.

Following the cave tour, you’ll have some free time to explore the area around the caves. Take a stroll by the Blue Lake (where you may be lucky enough to spot a platypus!) or grab a coffee or snack from Trails Bistro at historic Caves House (own expense). The guesthouse dates back to 1896.

All too soon it’s time to begin the journey home to Sydney.

This Jenolan Caves and Blue Mountains Tour from Sydney is an incredible experience. Get an early night beforehand and be ready for the adventure of a lifetime!
