‘From the historic Puffing Billy Steam Train, morning tea with scones and cockatiel feeding, to the wildlife sanctuary with its native Australian inhabitants, I was fully satisfied with this experience. Although we did not see much wildlife from the train, the scenic views and commentary were quite entertaining. Be sure to catch the bird show at the sanctuary. You will also see dingoes, platypus, kangaroos, native reptiles, Tasmanian devils, wombats, tree kangaroos and more!’

Your first stop will be Healesville Sanctuary, where you can spend time viewing the wildlife species that interest you most. Visit the sanctuary’s specialist precincts, including Animals of the Night, Dingo Country, Koala Forest and the Land of Parrots. The Tasmanian devil enclosure is always popular. Meet wombats, kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, emus and even the highly elusive platypus.

You’ll also have the opportunity to watch some fascinating presentations, including the acclaimed ‘Spirits of the Sky’ parrots and birds of prey show.

The next stop on this Healesville Sanctuary, Puffing Billy and Penguins Tour from Melbourne is Belgrave, where you’ll board the iconic Puffing Billy steam train for a 45-minute ride through beautiful Sherbrooke Forest and across the famous Trestle Bridge. Penguins seating upgrades

Penguins Plus ($30pp)

The Penguins Plus seating area is much smaller than the General Viewing area and set in a different section of the beach. The Penguins Plus viewing platform was constructed as a joint venture between Phillip Island Nature Parks and the RACV. The architects drew inspiration from the surrounding landscape, and the platform’s shape mirrors the coves of Phillip Island’s southern coastline. Typically these premium seats allow guests to see more penguins, and at closer range.

Guided Ranger Tour ($60pp)

At the Penguin Parade Visitor Information Centre, you’ll be met by a park ranger who will take you and a small group of guests (a maximum of ten people) on a guided walk through the rookery and down towards the beach. Along the way you’ll hear lots of interesting facts about the resident little penguins. Your ranger will then accompany you to your reserved seats right on the edge of the beach for the Penguin Parade. As the parade gets underway, the ranger will provide expert commentary on the behaviour of the penguins, and answer any questions you may have. The Guided Ranger Tour is only available to guests over 12 years of age.

Seating upgrades must be pre-booked and are subject to availability on the night. If an upgrade is not available, you will receive a refund for the upgrade fee.
