Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is one of Tropical North Queensland’s must-sees, and offers a unique opportunity to encounter the largest reptile in the world. This popular afternoon Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures Tour from Cairns and Palm Cove provides a relaxed and easy way to reach the park, and includes hotel pick-up/drop-off and your entry fee.
Having had your morning free for sightseeing, shopping or relaxing by the pool, you’ll be picked up from your hotel between 11.30am and 12.15pm for the drive north along the picturesque Captain Cook Highway to Hartley’s. Sit back, relax and take in the stunning views, as your driver provides commentary on points of interest along the way.
On arrival at the park, you’ll have around 3.5 hours to explore the five habitat zones and meet the furry, feathered, and of course, scaly locals. The Wildlife Discovery Trail — a simple-to-navigate boardwalk — circles the entire park. Take the time to stop and see the endangered cassowaries (not found anywhere else in the world), along with koalas, quolls, emus, snakes, lizards, turtles and waterbirds. You can even hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies.
Don’t miss the chance to go croc-spotting on a boat cruise on Hartley’s Lagoon. There are a number of scheduled cruises, and each one is guided by one of the park’s knowledgeable crocodile keepers. You may see crocodiles just a metre from the boat! These incredible animals have an evolutionary pedigree that stretches back some 200 million years.
The park also offers various wildlife presentations, including the Snake Show, Crocodile Attack Show, and Cassowary feeding. If hunger strikes in between, head for the park cafe to purchase lunch or a snack (at your own expense).
After a wonderful afternoon of wildlife watching, it’s time to board the bus for the return trip to your hotel. This Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures Tour is a true walk-on-the-wild-side, and an experience that all ages will love.
