‘This has to be one of the best tours in Sydney. Our guide Jason showed us around and provided us with information about the Blue Mountains, Australia and the region’s history. We got to see kangaroos and lots of birds. Seeing the Wentworth Falls was one of the highlights. We also had stunning views right across the mountains. At the end of the tour, we went to a spot where we watched the sunset. It was amazing!’

I was a bit disappointed. The guides didn't really add anything to the experience and seemed in a rush to get through it. They even wanted to leave before the sun had set! To be honest, they seemed a bit more interested in chatting with each other than with the group. The trip was fine, but I would just as well recommend to future travelers to just to take the train from Sydney to Katoomba and and save the money.

Had a great time visiting the Blue Mountains with Flinders and Donna as guides :) Seeing the sunset was very nice, specially since we were the only ones at the lookout! As it takes more than one hour to get there, I found it very convenient to get picked up and dropped off by the bus.

This was an excellent tour. Paul was a really friendly and knowledgeable guide, and made sure we had a great day. The tour itself was great - highlights included kangaroo spotting, a walk with stunning views, excellent lunch and the unforgettable experience of watching the sun go down behind the 3 Sisters. It was great to go in a smaller group, and going later we missed all the big tour buses. I'd looked at a few different tours before we went to Sydney, and very happy that we booked this one. I'd definitely recommend it.

We had been in Sydney for a few days and wanted to see a bit more of the country on our short holiday, so decided to go to the Blue Mountain National Park. What a treat! It is a beautiful landscape and completely different feel from the city. We got to see a kangaroo, dingo and many birds in the wild! The hike was very scenic and wasn’t too strenuous. The weather held out and we got to see a gorgeous sunset from Sublime Point.

We got picked up by Smokey, a true aussie super passionate and knowledgeable about his country. While driving to the Blue Mountains he gave us a very good brief history of the continent, telling us about the aborigian people and other past events. The views of the Blue Mountains were breathtaking!

What You Can Expect

The Blue Mountains is possibly Sydney’s most popular day trip destination and attracts a huge number of visitors. Avoid the tourist crowds and immerse yourself fully in the beauty of the region on this relaxed Blue Mountains Sunset Tour from Sydney. You’ll depart the city a little later then the big tour buses, and spend your afternoon getting up close and personal with the dramatic landscape on a guided bushwalk. Later in the day you’ll head for Katoomba to see the sublime Three Sisters rock formation at sunset. Most tourist buses will have long since departed back to Sydney. No crowds; no jostling for photos; just amazing views of an age-old region that encompasses rugged mountain peaks, sweeping canyons and soaring sandstone escarpments.

Once guest pick-ups from Central railway station are completed, you’ll set off across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in comfortable air-conditioned transport and head west towards the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park. Your friendly guide will introduce themselves and the rest of the group, and outline the tour itinerary — including the first stop of the day for some possible (and very probable) kangaroo spotting in the wild!

Before too long, the bus will start to climb up the mountains. You’ll pass through picturesque and historic townships, before arriving at the start point for your afternoon bushwalk.

The walk itself is fully guided and suitable for anyone of a reasonable fitness level. As you hop off the bus and make your way into the wonderful Australian bush, the smell of eucalyptus will assault your senses. Have your camera ready as incredible vistas open up before you. You’ll enjoy amazing views across the Jamison Valley, and see the breathtaking Wentworth Falls.

By the end of the walk you’ll have worked up quite an appetite, and this Blue Mountains Sunset Tour from Sydney includes the option of a picnic-style lunch (additional fee applies). You can also purchase food.

From there, the tour continues on to the town of Katoomba — home to the spectacular Three Sisters rock formation at Echo Point. With the majority of the crowds gone for the day, it will feel like you have the lookouts and stone monoliths all to yourself. As the sun sets to the west, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the extraordinary view of the Three Sisters bathed in soft light. Your guide will share information about the Indigenous heritage connected with the landscape you see before you.

The tour arrives back in the Harbour City at around 10.30pm — with one drop off point at Central railway station.

If you want to experience what makes the mountains so special — without the crowds — this Blue Mountains Sunset Tour from Sydney is a must-do!
