‘It may be a long day, but it is well worth it! Our initial stop at the Featherdale Wildlife Park was very interesting. There are so many unique animals and birds in Australia. Then we headed for the Blue Mountains, which included several lookout stops, the Scenic World rides, and the trip back down the mountains to amazing Sydney. Our guide Jed was really excellent; well-versed and personable. He went out of his way to make sure everyone had a great day.’

This tour covers a number of sights in the Blue Mountains and Sydney. If we'd known how long it would take to do all the pick ups in the morning we would have opted to meet the bus at a later pick up, we were one of the first pickups at 7:10 am, and were still picking up passengers at 8:30. The tour also went a lot later than we expected; it says 10 hours approx and starting at 7am, so we expected to end around 5, maybe 5:30. The boat cruise back to circular quay didn't start until after 5:30.

Some spectacular scenery in the Blue Mountains but other aspects of the tour were disappointing. Featherdale Wildlife Park had an interesting array of animals and birds but the setting was rather tacky and grubby. Not at all happy to discover that birds in open pens had their wings clipped. Stop on Leurah for lunch felt a waste of time. These stops meant that time at Scenic World and Echo Point, the highlights of the tour, was limited and felt rushed. The river cruise was a bit of an anticlimax as it was dark and so very little to see. I wouldn't recommend this schedule. Our driver Jed was knowledgeable and interesting.

Our tour guide Mark did a great job of fitting everything in and keeping us entertained throughout the day. The day is PACKED with activities- we got into Featherdale first before the crowds really picked up, which was a big plus. The trip is also really a value if you add up the individual costs of all of the events- Scenic World, Featherdale, not to mention transportation and the ferry ride back. I also loved the stop for lunch in Leura. Mark even gave us a bonus stop to view the Megalong Valley at the perfect time of day. It is definitely a worthwhile day trip- it is a FULL day though. Bring your own snacks.

It was a fun scenic trip to see nature in the Winter! We were picked up at our Sydney hotel and driven up to the town of Leaura, where we experienced the cold Australian winter in July. We had a great time and really enjoyed this tour.

We had a fantastic time just getting out and hiking here! Pack some water and snacks and just go! Incredible scenery and even my 8 year old enjoyed being out and about. Well worth spending a day around this beautiful area and the small towns.

This is a great day trip with amazing views. We have traveled to many parts of the world and I would say this rates at the top.

What You Can Expect

If you want to see incredible views and maximise the photo opportunities (and yes, the selfies!) during your visit to the magical Blue Mountains, then you can’t go past this Blue Mountains Day Tour with Scenic World Rides. It’s your opportunity to see the UNESCO World Heritage-listed landscape from every conceivable angle as you ride the incomparable Scenic Railway, Skyway and Cableway at Scenic World in Katoomba. Scenic World is one of the top reasons so many visitors flock to this sublime piece of New South Wales, and the tickets for your three rides are included in the cost of your tour. You can sit back, relax and Insta to your heart’s content!

Once selected CBD hotel pick-ups have been completed, you’ll depart Sydney in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach. Your first stop is the renowned Featherdale Wildlife Park at Doonside. Here you’ll have the opportunity to meet a range of native Australian animals. There are wallabies and kangaroos to hand-feed, and beautiful birds to admire. It’s also a chance for visitors to learn about Australia’s endangered species.

After departing the wildlife park, this Blue Mountains Day Tour with Scenic World Rides begins to climb the Blue Mountains proper — passing through several small towns and villages. Your next destination is Echo Point in the mountain township of Katoomba for a photo opportunity in front of the famous Three Sisters rock formation. You’ll also have time to take in the sweeping views across the Jamison Valley. It’s Australia’s answer to the Grand Canyon!

From there, it’s a very short drive to Scenic World on the clifftop overlooking the Jamison Valley and Katoomba Falls. You’ll have ample free time to ride the Scenic Railway, Cableway and Skyway in the order of your choice.

The Scenic Skyway is a 720-metre trip from one side of a deep ravine to the other, travelling in a cable car suspended 270 metres above the forested terrain below! The 360-degree views are sensational.

The Scenic Cableway descends 545 metres into the Jamison Valley. The ride provides fabulous views of the Three Sisters, Orphan Rock and Katoomba Falls.

The Scenic Railway is the steepest passenger railway journey in the world. Once used to haul coal up from the mines on the valley floor (still visible), the Scenic Railway has been thrilling passengers of all ages for decades.

Sadly, it’s time to head for home — but instead of fighting the afternoon traffic all the way back to Sydney, you’ll board a river cruise boat at Homebush Bay Wharf and enjoy a relaxing trip along the Parramatta River to the CBD. Admire the magnificent homes that line the river and cruise right under the soaring Sydney Harbour Bridge. The tour ends at Circular Quay.

This Blue Mountains Day Tour with Scenic World Rides offers guests a thrilling day out in one of Australia’s most stunning natural landscapes. It’s the ultimate ticket to ride!
