Whether you plan to travel with a tour group or independently, in this episode you’ll get information about Auckland, the stunning Bay of Islands, Rotorua and cosmopolitan capital Wellington.
The tour starts in Auckland with the opportunity to explore the magnificent City of Sails, before heading north towards Kauri country and the Bay of Islands — home to the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds. One of the highlights here is a cruise to Cape Brett and through the famous Hole in the Rock.
Next we visit the Hobbiton Movie Set, which is a truly magical experience. Then it’s on to the city of Rotorua — a renowned centre for geothermal activity and the heartland of Māori culture. A morning gondola ride up the side of Mount Ngongotaha with Skyline Rotorua for a champagne buffet breakfast served with specular views is just one of the many highlights of our time here.
We also visit the Rainbow Springs Nature Park and Kiwi Encounter to meet New Zealand’s elusive national bird, and explore the Te Puia geothermal park with its steaming vents, bubbling mud pools and spectacular geysers.
The tour finishes in wonderful Wellington — the home of the renowned Te Papa Tongarewa museum.
