‘Guided expertly by Melinda, this tour exceeded the expectations of my group. Most of the streets were already known to me, but taking the tour brought the street art and culture of the artists to life. It enriched my appreciation of the local area, and inspired a personal reaction to each of the works we saw. The discussion was very enjoyable.’ Dom F

What you can expect
Tap into the vibrant and transient world of street art on this fun and informative Sydney Street Art Walking Tour around the gritty inner-west suburbs of Newtown and Enmore. The tour is a wonderful way to explore an area of Sydney rarely seen by visitors, and to experience the city’s renowned street art subculture first-hand.
You’ll meet up with your expert guide and small group of tour participants just outside Newtown railway station. All guides are artists and creatives themselves, so you’re in perfect hands for exploring the fabulous local street art scene. You’ll receive a complimentary souvenir calico bag and a printed rundown on many of the artists whose work you may encounter during the tour. That said, you just never really know how long a particular street work will remain on display — or what new work might take its place! Such is the fragile, constantly evolving nature of street art. This Sydney Street Art Walking Tour will take you along cobbled backstreets, alleys, laneways and main roads to see murals, paste-ups and even the odd bit of public sculpture. You’ll learn the backstories of many of the suburbs’ street artists, and possibly bump into a few along the way! The local council works with the artists, and there’s usually something new to discover around every corner.
At the end of this Sydney Street Art Walking Tour, you’ll settle in at Young Henrys boutique brewhouse in Newtown for a refreshing craft beer and a discussion with your group on the works you’ve seen. By then, you’ll know your street art from your illegal graffiti, and be able to recognise works by artists like Phibs, Jumbo and Birdhat. Not everyone can claim to have that knowledge!
