‘What a wonderful experience! Having done a walking tour of Lygon Street and now this, I have developed a greater understanding of why Melbourne is so far ahead with its coffee, chocolate and food. This is a great tour and one I highly recommend for everyone. Our guide Luisa had a wealth of information to share and showed us highlights I had never noticed before. To cap it off, we enjoyed lunch at a Peruvian restaurant, with a drink of our choice. Thank you so much.’ Cassidyp

What you can expect
You’ll meet up with your tour guide and fellow guests for this Melbourne Lanes and Arcades Walking Tour with Lunch at the convenient Federation Square location. There’ll be no problem recognising your guide – they’ll be the one with the bright yellow umbrella! If there’s a chance of rain you’ll be supplied with a brolly and, after introductions are made, you’ll be on your way.
The commentary begins with the controversial history of Federation Square’s design. From Flinders St Station you’ll head underground to explore the art, design, cool coffee nooks and quirky boutiques of an arcade that even some locals don’t know about! [More]
The tour then takes you on a leisurely stroll through the famous graffitied laneways and arcades around Flinders and Degraves Streets. This buzzing corner of the city is packed with cafes and restaurants and pulsates with the sights and sounds of inner city life. You’ll learn more about the area’s architecture as well as some interesting urban myths!
In the famous Royal Arcade you’ll stop for an indulgent chocolate-themed morning tea. Then it’s off to explore more of the surrounding historical arcades and laneways, accompanied by interesting commentary from your local guide.
Once your Melbourne Lanes and Arcades Walking Tour with Lunch has reached its final destination your guide will leave you to enjoy a relaxed restaurant meal with fellow guests.

I was somewhat skeptical of this tour as I didn't really see anything all that exciting when driving into Melbourne. As a first time visitor, it seemed like any other large city. I was greatly surprised to find out about all the hidden alleys, street art walls, amazing cafes and restaurants. The tour gave me a great start to exploring Melbourne and I think it is my favorite city in Australia now. Thanks to Zoe for guiding us and showing us the sights, and organising lunch at the most AMAZING Peruvian restaurant! It was truly delicious. I never would have found it (at the end of an alley!) without her.

The 8 of us went below the streets, down lanes, through arcades, along the busy popular streets while being regaled with history and folklore. We walked for over 2 hours. A nice break for a delicious coffee half way and a Peruvian lunch at the end with our 'new friends' made it a wonderful experience. Our guide Luisa was engaging, well educated, and a great source of info for what to do during our stay in Melbourne. Definitely recommend this tour!
