‘What an awesome way to get a feel for the city! Chris, our guide, clearly lives and breathes Melbourne’s inner city vibe. He took us on such a fun and informative exploration of little nooks, crannies, laneways, arcades and hidden passages that even I, a not-so-big-city-girl, started to see the charm of this quirky and bustling metropolis. Definitely recommended!’ Sabine

What you can expect
This Melbourne Culture and History Walking Tour starts in Federation Square — one of the city’s best-known (and most controversial!) landmarks. After meeting your friendly local guide and the rest of your small group, you’ll head off along the Yarra River and hear about the city’s fascinating Indigenous heritage.
Next, this Melbourne Culture and History Walking Tour covers a number of significant sites relating to European settlement, the Victorian Gold Rush, and the waves of immigration that shaped the city’s cultural make-up throughout the 20th century.
From there, the tour takes a sharp turn into the present. You’ll explore the city’s vibrant contemporary culture by delving deep into the maze of laneways and arcades that crisscross the CBD. Visit a number of popular street art sites (you may even see street artists in action) and sample the café culture that gives Melbourne its heart (a hot drink at a cool laneway cafe is included in the cost of your tour).
For an engaging introduction to the Victorian capital, this Melbourne Culture and History Walking Tour is a must-do!

Being a 1st timer in Melbourne I wanted to know what made it tick. Why is it constantly named one of the top cities in the world to live? It's not that old! Chris helped me understand what Melbourne is all about - the beauty, the passion, and the warts. He was so damn informative, and the tour lasted longer than expected. If you're traveling to Melbourne, it's worth the three hours - and do it on day one! You'll have much to explore after these guys give you a head start!

The tour was informative and gave us a better understanding of Melbourne. Our guide was very helpful and great at answering all of our questions. He also provided us with ideas as to where to get dinner after we finished our tour.
